Tony Yayo’s latest mixtape Gunpowder Guru is true to form, with a very dark and gangster tracklist from the G-Unit member from New York City. Since we couldn’t find the album artwork that would fit, sample the tape with the video called “Bullets Whistle.” Don’t worry though, there is artwork included with the torrent download.
This is a fantastic mix of Clipse lyrics over some great beats by DJ Critical Hype. One of the true signs of great lyricism is the ability to take a rapper’s acapella verses and mix them over other beats without their rhymes losing any impact. Jay-Z and Wayne are two in that category, and this tape by Critcal Hype goes to show that Clipse belong in that same class.
Wayne’s long awaited Rock album is finally here, just a few days before he is scheduled to go to federal prison for 1 year on a felony gun possession charge. We know this isn’t a rap album but we figured lots of Weezy’s fans would still be interested in listening to his latest project. Personally, we are much more excited for Tha Carter IV, but no one knows when Wayne will be ready to drop that.
If you’re like me and don’t catch much Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, then you may not have known that The Roots have been Jimmy’s house band since he took over for Conan in 2009. Props to DJ Heat for compiling all of their best acts with guest performers and making the mix.
This is a solid release from southern rapper Bun B. The King of Trill dropped this tape as an advertisment for his upcoming third studio album, which is appropriately entitled Trill O.G. Stay posted for the drop.
A truly great performance by two of the greatest rappers alive and rap newcomer Drake. Lil Wayne is premiering his newest single from Rebirth called “Drop The World,” which also features Eminem, and then Drake comes out to round out the trio’s performance with their song “Forever.”
V.5 was a solid January drop from G-unit member Lloyd Banks. It has a well rounded lineup of songs and Banks stays consisently entertaining throughout most of the tape. Banks’ untitled third album is due to drop in June of 2010.
